Our Results

We are ambitious for every child at Bitterne and carefully evaluate our outcomes to identify what is working well and where further improvement is needed. The information below shows our most recent statutory outcomes alongside previous years, helping to provide a picture of achievement over time.

Year R Good Level of Development

A Good Level of Development (GLD) shows the proportion of children reaching the expected level across the key areas of learning by the end of Reception. In 2026, 73% of children achieved a Good Level of Development, an increase of 11 percentage points from 2025 and slightly above the national figure. This reflects the strengthening of our Early Years provision and our continued focus on ensuring children develop strong foundations for learning.

Year 1 and 2 Phonics Screening Check

The Phonics Screening Check assesses how securely pupils can use their phonics knowledge to decode words. In 2026, 80% of Year 1 pupils met the expected standard, while 97% of pupils had met the standard by the end of Year 2, demonstrating that the vast majority of children secure the required phonics knowledge as they progress through Key Stage 1.

 Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check

The Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) assesses pupils’ fluency in recalling multiplication facts up to 12 × 12. The table below shows our Year 4 outcomes over time alongside national outcomes. In 2026, outcomes improved significantly, with 59% of pupils achieving full marks (25/25) and an average score of 22.6 out of 25, both above the national figures.

Key Stage 2 Outcomes

The table below shows our Key Stage 2 outcomes over time alongside national outcomes, providing a transparent picture of attainment at the end of Year 6.

We carefully analyse pupil outcomes to identify strengths and areas for further improvement. Raising attainment at the end of Key Stage 2 remains an important priority for our school.

2025/26 school-level KS2 outcomes will be published once the 2026 assessment and marking-review process has been completed.
